Socks brings step ladders!

First Socks came early and parked in Jacks' spot, filling the next spot with step ladders...

Then Jack parked in a new spot.

Round two - Socks strikes again!

Guess who turned up bright and early, so that he could harass Jack. Socks set out a whole pile of saw horses, after parking in Jack's spot.

Jack rode through a few of them knocking them down and then started piling them on Socks' hood and cab. I think Socks lives for mischief!

We also went on a lovely drive the other day and looked at wild flowers. They are gorgeous!

The Parking Lot Drama

Every morning the Lost Boys arrive for coffee. From 7 till 9 we serve coffee for a dollar, and I bake tiny cinnamon rolls and the Lost boys munch away and exchange information about jobs and bear sightings. The bears are making big news right now because they are into everything! Black bears and Grizzlies have discovered local fare, including a dog! Mind you, that could also be blamed on a wolf .

Last night the Grizzly, based on his print, ate all Willie's duck feed, guess he wasn't in the mood for duck. He also visited the childrens fishing pond, the gravel pit and another was seen up at Island Park Village. This week a garbage can was devoured and several bird feeders were annihilated and Fish and Game have asked us all to put away our bird feeders.

Back to the Lost Boys. Monday, Socks parked in Jacks' spot. Since there was barely enough room for Jack's truck between Socks' door and the gas pump, Jack squeezed in there, and Socks couldn't get into his car. It was very close! As Jack walked into the restaurant, Socks pushed the door into his face, just to tease a little more. Jack informed Socks: " Socks, you are working on my nerves!"

Tuesday morning Socks parked in the same spot and put construction cones up, one on either side of his vehicle. Jack pulled in and drove right over the cone. To Socks he said, as he paused in the doorway: " You are working on my last nerve!" To tell you the truth, he really looked ticked...

Thank Heavens we were closed on Wednesday!

This morning Socks had his wife help him park three cars in front of the restaurant. One, an ancient hearse, in Jack's spot. I hid in the kitchen but prepared to toss the Lost Boys out into the parking lot if things got out of hand. Jack came in shaking his head, paused in the doorway and then he bust out laughing. The Boys all started to laugh and joked while they all ate their cinnamon rolls and drank their coffee.

Hopefully Socks is done, although I heard him say something about crime tape!

In Island Park!

Long story short...we bought a restaurant/store/bar in Island Park. I am so happy to be back. Come and visit, we are on the Yale-Kilgore road, 5 miles west of Elk Creek. The kids have loved seeing so many animals and I have loved them but especially the wild flowers.

Yesterday we took a drive up Sawtelle Peak and I couldn't believe the flowers. I counted 34 including my favorite Shooting star and there were lots more. Then we drove up to West Yellowstone and helped Joshua shop for birthday presents. He will be 11 tomorrow.

We have had lots of bear activity, Black bear and also Grizzly. Sad thing is that a fed bear is a dead bear. Lots of campers leave their stuff out and so I have been chaining the doors of our dumpster down and encouraging campers to use it. On Wednesdays the dump is closed and then there is no other place to put it. Lots of people are carrying bear spray and I notice that it is more the locals than the tourists. We have also seen lots of elk, deer, a fox carrying his squirrel dinner and wolves.

This is Heaven, I love this place. Gary has been teaching Caleb to fly fish and everybody has been worm fishing. Today Gary is down in the valley seeing patients but he can hardly wait to get back up here. I don't blame him...lol.
